Some of the most famous leather items around the world are handcrafted in Fez.
The whole process is quite elaborate and very hard for the local workers.
Men standing inside pools filled by water, salt and pigeon feces. Smell is quite strong and repulsive.

The Chouara tannery is one of the most famous and oldest tanneries of the world. There are hundreds men working here: some of them are scraping the hair from the skins, some other are working the skin inside the tanks for the softening process.

They also entertain tourists, showing them exactly what they expect to see.
